In a spiritual sense, when we talk about pioneers, the first image that normally comes to our mind is about someone, who has been the first to go to an unchartered territory with the message of Christ. Some of the famous pioneers that come to our mind are David Livingstone, the first missionary to go deep into African territory with the light of the gospel message, Hudson Taylor, founder of the China Inland Mission etc. Ver few may be able to take gigantic steps like the above men of God, unless very specifically called by God.
But come to think of it, you can be a pioneer in small ways. You may ask how? The answer is - by being the first, maybe in the congregation where you gather or in your city or even in your local cell group to take the lead in being an agent to help your Church or group to recover lost grounds; grounds which set the standards for the saints of old towards Godliness, such high standards due to which the mighty power of God was reflected through common men and women as in the times of the Acts of the Apostles. You may see many things in your congregation or cell group that may not conform to the patterns you see in the Word of God. There has definitely been a great dilution of the high standards in the Christian world of today. Therefore it is the time to act or to pioneer in the causes what the Holy spirit puts in our heart. One can pioneer or be an agent to gather in like minded people for prayer. This inturn sets in revival or action of the Holy Spirit. Pioneer to bring together people for daily meditation. This will enable the body of Christ to grow in the knowledge of Christ. Pioneer to visit the needy and sick, pioneer to spread the Gospel in schools, colleges, homes, offices, byways and highways.
Now, what makes you to be a pioneer? A degree from bible college? Or an ordination? Neither of these make you a pioneer for Christ. One must have a true desire to see the kingdom of God on Earth and a heart that yearns for Christ's will. If one possess this heart he/she will pioneer for the cause that the Lord will put in one's heart.
